Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke Are Expecting Their First Baby
Harry Potter‘s Daniel Radcliffe and girlfriend Erin Darke are expecting their first child together. Radcliffe’s rep confirmed the news on Saturday, March 25, after photos of he and Darke walking through the streets in New York City started circulating. The 38-year-old had an evident baby bump as she walked beside Radcliffe, wearing a black zip-up hoodie with matching leggings, and bright orange boots. Radcliffe was wearing a blue and yellow wool hat and blue puffer coat.
The couple were first linked together in 2013, after meeting on the set of Kill Your Darlings. In the indie film, Darke and Radcliffe shared some initiate moments, but their chemistry continued off-screen. While promoting the movie at the Sundance Film Festival, it was noted that they were more affectionate than ordinary colleagues. In a later interview with Playboy, Radcliffe said he wasn’t acting in those scenes with Darke.
“That’s a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time,” he admitted. “There’s no acting going on — not from my end, anyway. There’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”
A year after going public with Darke, Radcliffe told US Weekly that they are close friends, too.
“I think that’s the kind of relationship I always aspire to have with someone I’m in a relationship with,” he said. “You want that person to be your best friend. In the case of Erin, we definitely are.”
More recently in a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Radcliffe explained why he and Darke have stayed out of the public eye for the most part.
“I think in the years since I’ve been sober, I just don’t do anything interesting enough,” he reasoned. “As an actor, I just want to live my life and see my friends, and I just want the thing people talk about to be the work.”
