Who’s Still Alive on Yellowjackets?

Spoilers for Yellowjackets season 1 below.

The wilderness is calling us back. With the premiere of Yellowjackets season 2 tomorrow, we’ll soon be reunited with our favorite forest-dwelling soccer players and their traumatized adult counterparts. But given it’s been over a year since the show aired, viewers might understandably need a refresher on who’s still around—and who’s succumbed to the treacheries and sorcery of the woods.

Here, we revisit who’s still standing in the Yellowjackets cast, both in the ’90s as they continue to claw for survival post-plane crash, and as grown-ups grappling with the aftermath in the present-day.

In the Wilderness, Circa 1996

Shauna (Sophie Nélisse): She’s grieving, but she’s still standing. In the season 1 finale, she discovers her best friend Jackie froze to death after an explosive fight. Oh, and she’s pregnant with Jackie’s boyfriend Jeff’s baby.

Misty (Samantha Hanratty): She’s recovering from getting her heart broken by her crush, Coach Scott, and is working to regain the group’s trust after accidentally poisoning them all with shrooms during their Doomcoming.

Nat (Sophie Thatcher): She’s on awkward terms with Travis after they got into a fight and then he slept with Jackie the night of Doomcoming. Things got even weirder considering the rest of the girls chased him down and almost sacrificed him, believing he was a dear during their shroom trip.

Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown): She’s still practical as ever and trying to lead the group, but is secretly struggling with something she can’t control: sleepwalking. She also won’t believe that Van “saw something out there” when she was attacked by the wolves and was floating in and out of consciousness.

Travis (Kevin Alves): He’s desperately looking for his younger brother, Javi, after he ran off during Doomcoming. Natalie offers to help him search. He apologizes for sleeping with Jackie and confesses his love to Natalie.

Van (Liv Hewson): After surviving the wolf attack, she seems to be inching closer to Lottie, or at least some form of religious belief. She and Taissa are still going strong, though it’s unclear if her growing faith with throw a wedge between them.

Lottie (Courtney Eaton): All hail the antler queen. People are starting to believe more strongly in Lottie’s gifts. Not long after she senses that food is on the way, a bear walks to camp, and she kills it. At the end of season 1, she offers its heart in a ritual in the woods and pleads, “Let the darkness set us free.”

Coach Scott (Steven Krueger): He has just shut down Misty’s hopeless crush on him. He tells her that he has a boyfriend back home named Paul, and shouts out his love for him in the forest.

Javi (Luciano Leroux): He’s a maybe. We didn’t see him die on-screen, but he did flee during Doomcoming when the girls were high and chasing Travis, mistaking him for a deer. A tripped-up Shauna tells Javi to “run,” and we haven’t seen him since, despite Travis and Nat’s attempts to find him.

Mari (Alexa Barajas): She’s one of the more minor characters, but it’s worth noting that Mari was the one who unknowingly poured Misty’s hallucinogenic shroom concoction into the stew. Now, she can’t trust Misty around the food.

Akilah (Keeya King): This foraging expert and former Girl Scout doesn’t get much screen time either, but we do know she knows her way around wild foliage and a needle and thread (she sewed the stitches in Van’s face after the wolf attack).

Reminder: There appear to be some unnamed extras in the cabin.

Notable deaths: Jackie, Laura Lee, and possibly “pit girl.”

Present-Day, Circa 2021

Shauna (Melanie Lynskey): After killing Adam, her artist boyfriend, over suspicions that he was stalking her and blackmailing her friends, she and the girls clean up the body. She hasn’t told them yet, though, that the real blackmailer was her husband Jeff, who needed the cash for his failing furniture store.

Misty (Christina Ricci): The nurse by day uses her chemical knowledge to spearhead the cleanup for Adam’s murder. At home, she frees the journalist/fixer, Jessica Roberts, who she’s been imprisoning in her basement, but laces her cigarettes, which sends her into a presumably fatal accident on the drive home.

Taissa (Tawny Cypress): Tai is now Madame Senator after winning her election in the season 1 finale, but her sleepwalking still haunts her. Her wife Simone finds a secret lair in the basement containing their dog Biscuit’s severed head, their son Sammy’s doll, and other freaky objects.

Nat (Juliette Lewis): After learning that Travis’ death was really a suicide, she attempts to take her own life, but she gets kidnapped by a mysterious group before she can pull the trigger. It seems like she’s still alive, but who knows for how long.

Lottie (Simone Kessell): She lives! The final moments of the season 1 finale reveal that money was moved out of Travis’ bank account after his death, by none other than Lottie Matthews. She’ll make her first adult appearance in season 2.

Van (Lauren Ambrose): Adult Van has yet to make an appearance on Yellowjackets, but following Ambrose’s casting between seasons, she’ll make her entrance sometime in the upcoming episodes.

Jeff (Warren Kole): He’s likely still reeling over the discovery that there’s no book club, but he disclosed to Shauna a secret of his own: that he stole her journals and used the information to anonymously blackmail Natalie and Tai into giving him money to save his business. He knew about Shauna’s affair and murder, and that she “took care of it,” though he doesn’t know the specifics.

Callie (Sarah Desjardins): Shauna’s teenage daughter knows about her affair and gets even more freaked out when she and the family see Adam has gone missing in the local news. She doesn’t know her father is already up to speed.

Kevyn (Alex Wyndham): Nat’s childhood friend grew up to be a detective who wanders back into her life, but after sleeping together a few times, and after he consoles her about Travis, they end up going their separate ways.

Notable deaths: Adam, Adult Travis, and Jessica Roberts.
