The 7 Best Nail Trends From the Spring 2023 Runways

Jin Soon

In the middle of winter, you might not realize it, but believe me: spring is almost here. That means that it might be time to pack away your winter mittens and start working on your spring look, whether that’s refreshing your hair color with a hydrating gloss or dotting on some faux freckles with a freckle pen (why not?). And, of course, getting ready for fun, fresh spring nails. Where to turn to for inspo? The runways, of course.

New York Fashion Week may seem like a distant memory, but we’re not done talking about it yet. Whether we’re analyzing the best looks from the runways or seething with jealousy over chic street style looks, there is plenty of inspiration to draw from the September shows, for however long it takes. But it doesn’t stop at fashion. Here, we found the seven best nail trends we spotted on the runways and expect to see everywhere come spring. Whether it’s a creamy nude or Barbiecore pink, we can’t wait to see these styles IRL. Plus, we found the best products to recreate these looks at home. If Gigi Hadid can wear these, so can you.

1 Chrome Nails

Subtle was nowhere to be found with these chromed-out metallic manicures. Nail artist Holly Falcone opted for shining, almost liquid-looking polish for both the Batsheva and Priscavera shows. Falcone isn’t the only nail artist who seems fascinated by the chromed look, either. Nail artist Naomi Yasuda used a silvery, mirror-effect gel for some of the nail looks at Tommy Hilfiger, too.

Hot pink is invading our wardrobes and now, our hands. Barbiecore’s effects were seen all over the runway this season, adorning models’ hands at shows like Batsheva, Peter Do, and more. Pink is the new neutral, people.

3 Milky Magic

For a look that everyone can mimic at home with minimal effort, a milky manicure is the upgraded nude. Appearing at shows like LoveShackFancy, Tory Burch, Ulla Johnson, and others, this cool (and easy!) manicure is a must-have for spring. Nadine Abramcyk, founder of Tenoverten, wanted a “buff-your-nails-but-better effect” for models walking for Tory Burch, and now, so do we.

4 Vampy Red

The latest 2000s trend to make a comeback? None other than red vampy nails. Instead of relying on beige neutrals, models on the runways were often spotted with a bright red mani. That extra boldness and pop of color will be everywhere in the coming months, trust us.

5 French Tips

It turns out that French nails aren’t a trend that will disappear overnight. Appearing on the runways of Alice + Olivia, Tommy Hilfiger, Peter Do, and Sandy Liang, variations of the French mani reigned. Whether it’s a traditional white-tipped manicure, or you decide to get creative with colors, this is a staple look that is here to stay.
