Everything We Know About Season 3 of Yellowjackets So Far

Yellowjackets was quickly renewed for its second season, and the third season renewal has been even faster. Before the second season has even premiered for its scheduled date of March 2023 they have been given the green light for more episodes. Star Melanie Lynskey shared the news on Twitter, saying she’d do the show “forever” if she could.

The renewal makes sense, because co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson have said they picture the show as having five seasons. The story follows a group of incredibly successful high school soccer players whose plane goes down in the wilderness. From the opening episode, we know they’re stuck there for over a year and the gang eventually descends into cannibalistic ritual.

So here’s what we know about season three so far.

Who will be in season 3 of Yellowjackets?

The main cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress as the adult counterparts to the teens stuck in the forest. We do know some of them escape and go on to live not very normal adult lives. Part of the show’s mystery is strategically revealing who survived to grow up.

Because these four definitely did, we will likely be seeing their teen versions, Sophie Nélisse, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Hopefully, the rest of the cast, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves will also be there. Season is introducing actors Lauren Ambrose, Simone Kessell, and Elijah Wood to the cast.

What will season 3 of Yellowjackets be about?

It will likely to continue to unravel the mystery of the location where the Yellowjackets team went down, the possibility of a supernatural influence, and the cult that seems to have been created by the Antler Queen out in the woods. But until season two has come out, it’s unclear exactly what will go down.

“With Yellowjackets runaway success in Season 1 and the pent-up anticipation for Season 2, we wanted to maximize the momentum by fast tracking Season 3 now,” said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, in an interview with Variety. “The show’s ambition is only exceeded by its execution, and I thank the incredible creative team behind it, including Ashley, Bart, Jonathan, eOne and the Showtime team, for turning this into such a success.”
