Bad Bunny Makes Grammys History with His Smash Hit Album Un Verano Sin Ti

Bad Bunny is no stranger to making history at this point in his career.

Today, the Puerto Rican superstar’s landmark album Un Verano Sin Ti became the first-ever all-Spanish language album to be nominated for Album of the Year. The “Me Porto Bonito” singer was also nominated in the categories for Best Pop Solo Recording and Best Musica Urbana Album, respectfully. The project is one of the most streamed albums in Spotify history and also made Billboard Chart history this year as well—the record remained at the top of the Billboard 200 for a whopping 13 weeks since its release in early May. Bad Bunny is already a winner of four Latin Grammys and took home awards for Best Latin Pop Album and Best Musica Urbana for YHLQMDLG and El Último Tour Del Mundo in 2021 and 2022.

The singer, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, recently reflected on the magnitude of his mainstream rise to Harper’s BAZAAR for the September ICONS issue earlier this year where he praised Latinos across the globe for helping him obtain his massive success.

“There comes a moment when you’re like, ‘Diablo, estoy en un nivel muy alto.’ And then the next year comes and you’re like, ‘Diablo!’ By the time I noticed that things were different, it didn’t really affect me. It may change things around me, but I stay the same. Soy un normalito. I am who I am,” he told BAZAAR. “[My success] is for more than just myself, but also for the fans and for all of the Latinos in the world. I get emotional thinking about it … and I see it from the outside. If it wasn’t me but it was another artist, I would feel just as proud for them too. But obviously it’s more exciting that it is me.”
