Rihanna Will Make Her Official Return to Music This Friday

Rihanna’s return to music is underway.

Yesterday, Marvel Studios confirmed the news that the “Love on the Brain” singer (and beauty CEO and lingerie mogul) will be featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack with her first single in six years coming out this Friday, October 28. The film studio shared the news in a brief clip that showed a glittering Wakanda Forever logo transitioning into Rihanna’s signature R logo—a symbol fans haven’t seen used in a musical context in a very long time.

Fans of the star were quick to turn the teaser into a Twitter trending topic, with thousands of people expressing their excitement over the confirmation. A return to music seemed imminent for the star after she confirmed back in September she would be headlining the 2023 Super Bowl in Phoenix. Following Friday’s release, fans will also see Rihanna make an appearance in the upcoming fourth edition of her Savage x Fenty fashion show for Prime Video.

“Y’all national heroes not in the MCU? Can’t relate!” one fan wrote on Twitter, while another chimed in saying, “I never thought I’d see the day.”

Rihanna has yet to share the news herself on her own social platforms, but, of course, she doesn’t really need to. The demand for new music from the Barbados-born star is so high, she (and Marvel) knows that an in-your-face promotion campaign isn’t necessary. The mere public anticipation for this moment is more than enough.
