Kate Middleton Seen Driving Her Kids During Move From Kensington Palace to Adelaide

Kate Middleton was photographed driving around Windsor with her children Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4. The family, including Prince William, have recently moved to their new estate, Adelaide Cottage, from Kensington Palace. Kate waved to the photographers as she drove and was wearing a white shirt with a black collar.

The move was partly motivated by the children starting at their new private school, Lambrook, near Ascot in Berkshire, after moving from their St Thomas’s School in Battersea. Adelaide is closer to Windsor Castle, which is where Queen Elizabeth has been resting as she recovers from her recent mobility issues.

“They had to have moved in this weekend, because the children have to start at their new school next week,” a royal source told the Daily Mail. “The renovation is no-frills, by royal standards…This is very much a decision that two parents have made to give their children the ‘most normal’ start possible.”

The source added, “KP [Kensington Palace] can be a little bit of a fishbowl. They wanted to be able to give George, Charlotte and Louis a bit more freedom than they have living in central London. It’s very much a decision that’s been led by the kids.”

Kensington Palace will continue as the couple’s official residence and will continue to house their office staff. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also inhabit their country mansion Anmer Hall at times, a 10-bedroom estate in Norfolk.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan arrived in the U.K. on Saturday morning just after the move, visiting the country for the first time since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. They did not appear to bring their children, Archie and Lilibet. A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told Hello! Magazine in a statement, “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.”
