Why Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone Broke Up After 4 Years Together

The internet was quick to joke that Camila Morrone, who turned 25 in June, had aged out of the Leonardo DiCaprio girlfriend experience, as the actor has never publicly dated a woman over the age of 25. But a source opened up to E! about the real reason DiCaprio, 47, and Morrone ended things after over four years together. Blame it on space and time itself.

The source said that DiCaprio and Morrone have both been “traveling a lot,” and that prompted them to reevaluate their relationship. “Distance played a factor,” the source said. “[The romance] ran its course.” That source added that it’s possible Morrone and DiCaprio could reconcile, but “at the moment, it’s [their romantic relationship] not on.”

Us Weekly touched a little on the distance between DiCaprio and Morrone this summer too. A source told Us that while the two “were very close,” Morrone has been “filming all summer,” continuing her work as an actress.

DiCaprio, meanwhile, “has been attending events and going on vacations without [Morrone], from the Care Gala to Unicef Gala to Saint Tropez. He has been spending more time hanging out with all his pals like Tobey McGuire and Jamie Foxx,” the source said.

DiCaprio and Morrone’s reps declined to comment on the split report to People.

Morrone herself addressed their 25-year age gap in a December 2019 interview with The Los Angeles Times. “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood—and in the history of the world—where people have large age gaps,” she said, adding, “I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”
