Edo Govt to set up Agricultural Policy in the State – Nigerian Observer

The Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Hon. Monday Osaigbovo, has said that Edo State Government will continue    to support agricultural activities in the 18 Local Government Areas.

Hon. Osaigbovo, made this call during a Stakeholders meeting for the Agricultural Policy formulation at the Ministry’s Conference room in Benin City.

He noted that the policy will include conditions requiring agro-allied companies to hire students from the University of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi in Edo State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Dorcas Idehen, gave the full support of the Ministry and tasked the Stakeholders to make the policy an all-encompassing one.

Stakeholders involved in the Agricultural Policy formulation are: The Ministry of Local Government Affairs in collaboration with  GIZ and the  Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. There will also be series of Stakeholders engagement that will provide background for this Agricultural Policy.
