Inside Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Wedding Plans: She Wants a ‘Spectacular Celebration’ Soon

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck don’t have a wedding date set yet, Us Weekly reports, but it may not be all that long before Bennifer makes it down the aisle this time. A source spoke to the outlet about where the rekindled couple stands on ceremony planning. This will not be a small, intimate event if Lopez has it her way.

For context, Lopez and Affleck first dated from 2002 to 2004 and became engaged before calling off their first wedding in September 2003. They attributed the move to the insane media presence around the event: “Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date,” they shared in a statement. “When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry. We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families, and our friends.”

Now, decades later, Lopez wants something big.

“She definitely wants a spectacular celebration at some point and money won’t be an object!” the source said. “They’re both committed to making this work and taking all the steps necessary to respect each other’s boundaries and learn from their mistakes the last time around.”

The outlet added that while Lopez may say she’s fine taking her time with their engagement, in reality, she’d happily get married in the next few months if Affleck wants that, too.

“Jennifer will tell you she’s not in a rush to get married, but her friends think otherwise,” a source said. “The truth is that if Ben wanted to push this forward as early as this summer, she’d be totally down with that. [She] wants the formalities out of the way so they can start their journey as man and wife sooner rather than later.”

Lopez spoke to People in February about Affleck and her hope to spend the rest of her life with him. “I just want my future to be full of love and happiness, with my children and my partner,” she said. “I think everybody just wants to be happy, with somebody to go on the journey with and grow old with, and I feel good about that right now.”

Of Affleck himself, Lopez gushed, “I’m so proud of him, I’m so proud of the man he’s become that I’ve watched from afar,” she started. “Being honest with each other, being loving, that’s just the basis of everything. I feel like he’s at a place in his life where—just like how I feel about myself—it’s been a journey of learning yourself and figuring yourself out, getting to a place where you feel really good on your own and who you are so you can be in a happy, healthy relationship.”
