Edo Govt Unveils Maiden Car Auction In Benin …Shaibu lauds initiative, says it’s catalyst for economic growth – Nigerian Observer

Benin City – Edo State Deputy Governor,Rt.Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has commended organizers of the Edo Car Auction, saying that the initiative was a catalyst for boosting the economic growth of the State.

The Deputy Governor made the remarks, when he spoke through the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Bose Joy Igbinobaro, during the maiden edition of Edo Car Auction, which held in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

According to him, “the initiative has the capacity to bring people together from diverse background from within Edo State, across Nigeria and beyond with the potentials to promote trade, commerce and investments”.

“As a Government, the present administration under the dynamic leadership of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has put in place, policies and programs which promote the ease of doing business in Edo State.”

“For the records, stimulating the growth of the state’s economy for the empowerment and economic prosperity of our people remain one of the major pillars of this administration. Indeed, our vision as a people-centred government is Making Edo State Great Again (MEGA), as part of a deliberate plan towards positioning our dear state as a sub-region of Investments and industrial destination in the next 30 years.”

“No doubt, this maiden edition of Edo Car Auction 2022 is a veritable catalyst for boosting the tourism and other economic sectors of Edo State; thereby increasing the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR)”.

Shaibu lauded the organizers of car auction for their industry and creativity.

He noted that the initiative was “an innovative platform that will provide the rare opportunity for automobile dealers to sell vehicles to interested members of the public at cheap and affordable prices. Moreso, when Edo is ranked the highest importers of vehicles in Nigeria, besides Lagos State”.

Speaking earlier, Vision Bearer of the Edo Car Auction 2022, Amb. Terry Prince Osemwengie, stated that the initiative would be a yearly event, targeted at creating a platform for automobile dealers to sell vehicles to interested members of the public at cheap and affordable prices.

The occasion attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including top government functionaries as well as stakeholders in the automobile business.
