BENIN CITY – The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated Mr. Festus Alenkhe on his emergence as the Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) after a keenly contested election.
Alenkhe, a crime journalist with the state-owned Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), defeated the immediate past Secretary of the union, Titus Akhigbe.
Obaseki described the outcome of the election as a reflection of the choice of journalists and media professionals across the different chapels in the state.
He noted that Alenkhe is a thorough-bred journalist who has distinguished himself in crime reporting, noting that he was confident that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the administration of the NUJ in the state.
The governor urged Alenkhe on uniting the NUJ and mobilizing members of the union to meet their function of providing information, enlightenment, entertainment and surveillance to the larger society.
