  • Charlize Theron was honored with the Icon Award at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala.
  • She attended the event with her two daughters.
  • The moment marked a rare public outing for the family.

Charlize Theron had her children by her side for a special night out at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala.

The Oscar-winning actress received the Icon Award, which honors artists whose careers have had a significant global impact, while raising funds for the museum’s exhibitions, educational initiatives, and public programming. Sigourney Weaver presented Theron with the honor.

For the gala, Theron wore a striking custom black Tom Ford gown that featured intricate embellishments, sheer panels, and a floor-length skirt with a train for an added flair. She accessorized with statement Boucheron jewelry and styled her bob with sleek, side-swept microbangs, giving the look a modern edge.

Theron posed for photographers on the red carpet solo when she arrived, but was accompanied by Jackson, 14, and August, 12, throughout the evening. Both girls wore black ensembles for the occasion, coordinating with their mother’s glamorous look.

“I’m always a little bit like ‘is it a dream, is it real?’” she said in an interview with The Academy on the carpet, reflecting on her career and the moment at hand. “It’s really lovely.”

Theron has spoken openly for years about adopting and becoming a mother. On National Daughter’s Day in 2020, she wrote: “My heart belongs to these two beautiful powerhouses. I will never be the same.”
