J.Crew and Eckhaus Latta Team Up on Fall’s Coolest Knitwear
If you follow fashion closely, you might remember that earlier this year, J.Crew invited labels like Collina Strada and Tanner Fletcher to redesign its iconic Rollneck sweater, with Eckhaus Latta among them. The response from shoppers to Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta’s take on the classic piece was so strong that it inspired a collaborative limited-edition collection, announced this morning ahead of Eckhaus Latta’s spring/summer 2027 show at New York Fashion Week.
The designers dug into J.Crew’s archive of catalogs for inspiration, choosing to bring new life to staples like the barn jacket, rugby shirts, chinos, and pleats. The duo found styles from the ’90s especially exciting: “That period was our childhood, so our aesthetics and tastes will always be shaped by it,” said Eckhaus and Latta in a press release.
The 1990s may have been a grittier time for J.Crew as a brand, according to Olympia Gayot, creative director of women’s and kids at J.Crew, who says the decade revealed “an era of the brand that already possessed a little downtown tension.”
And this is where Eckhaus Latta’s M.O. ties in. “We wanted to preserve the experimentation, individuality, and sense of community that makes Eckhaus Latta so distinctive, along with the unpretentious New York energy they bring to clothes designed for how people actually live,” Gayot added.
The collection consists of copious knitwear, unsurprisingly. Stripes, mock necks, and marled knits feature prominently in an autumnal color palette of browns, blues, grays, and pops of key lime green. Prices range from $75 to $650. The collection goes on sale September 15. Bookmark this page and come back when it’s shoppable.
