The Launch: September’s Must-Know Fashion News

Estimated read time3 min read

September is when fashion gets serious. As the industry heads from New York to London, Milan, and Paris for fashion month, brands are setting the agenda with new collections, collaborations, and store openings in between what’s taking place on the runway.

Starting the month strong is Gap, which introduced the “GapBag” collection designed by Reed Krakoff, and Cartier with the latest edition of its Clash de Cartier bag. From there, Celine and Reebok teamed to reimagine the Freestyle Lo sneaker, and Argent released its 10-year anniversary collection. Below, follow along with September’s can’t-miss fashion moments.

Celine and Reebok Reimagine a 1980s Sneaker

Celine

Who: Celine and Reebok

What: Freestyle Lo and Alldayeveryday sneaker

Where: Online at celine.com and in select Celine stores on September 10

Why: Celine and Reebok are teaming up for the first official sneaker collaboration in the French house’s history—and the result is surprisingly low-key. Michael Rider has reworked Reebok’s 1982 Freestyle Lo in supple lambskin, stripping back much of the original branding and replacing the familiar tongue logo with Celine’s own. The debut—which Rider teased during the brand’s spring/summer 2027 men’s show—arrives with two versions: the Freestyle Lo, available in eight colorways, and the Celine/Reebok Alldayeveryday.

Argent Releases 10th Anniversary Collection and Campaign

Who: Argent

What: Capsule collection

Where: Online at argentwork.com

Why: Argent is celebrating its 10th anniversary by bringing its biggest community of “Work Friends” together yet. The campaign features 100 women from across business, media, politics, sports, and culture—including Huma Abedin, Sue Bird, Laura Brown, Ali Krieger, and Katie Couric—each offering her own perspective on ambition and work. Alongside the campaign comes a 10-piece capsule in the brand’s signature magenta, a color that has long served as Argent’s shorthand for power with personality.

Cartier Updates Its Clash de Cartier Bag

Who: Cartier

What: Clash de Cartier bag

Where: Online at cartier.com and Cartier boutiques

Why: With the latest edition of its Clash de Cartier bag, the French maison makes a case for hardware as jewelry. Its sleek silhouette is punctuated by a twist-lock clasp inspired by the house’s Clash de Cartier jewelry collection, which contrasts sharp, industrial studs with soft, fluid curves. Rendered in supple leather, the bag balances the precision of Cartier’s jewelry with the ease of an everyday carryall. Wear it by hand, over the shoulder, or tucked beneath the arm.

What: Never Still collection

Where: Online at rimowa.com and Rimowa stores

Why: A commute isn’t always glamorous—but for Rimowa, it can be. The German house has expanded its Never Still collection with a new lineup of leather bags designed to make everyday movement feel a little more considered, from a compact flap backpack to duffles, a crossbody, and a laptop-friendly tote. Arriving in smoky anthracite and warm mocha, the pieces pair practical details—padded backs, removable straps, and suitcase sleeves—with Rimowa’s signature grooved textures.

Who: Gap

What: New handbag collection

Where: Online at gap.com and in select Gap stores starting September 8

Why: What if your favorite pair of jeans became a handbag? Gap has the answer. The “GapBag” collection—the debut line designed by Reed Krakoff, the brand’s executive director of accessories—translates five-pocket denim, the Arch Logo hoodie, and other signatures into a lineup of totes, satchels, crossbody bags, and pouches. The collection centers on five silhouettes, including the Five-Pocket Tote, Hoodie Tote, Favorite Tote, Crescent Bag, and oversize Shoulder Bag, in denim, canvas, faux suede, fleece, and playful prints.

“Gap has been part of my life, as it has for so many people around the world, for as long as I can remember,” Krakoff said in a statement. “For more than five decades, Gap’s design language has shaped the way the world dresses. The GapBag Collection draws on that legacy: iconic American style, simple, never plain, built on the idea that form follows function and that luxury is the coming together of style, utility, and design. The five-pocket tote series is emblematic of that unmistakable Gap style, in its broken-in washed denim, jean-stitch detailing and signature metal shanks. It is made for everyone, every day, every occasion.”
