11 arrested as Police-military team seizes gun, ammunition at Kromase

A joint Police-Military team has arrested 11 suspects during an intelligence-led operation at Kromase near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.

The operation, conducted on August 26, 2026, formed part of measures by the security agencies to maintain peace and address potential security threats in the area.

The Police said the operation led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of several items, including “one black pump-action gun, twenty-one (21) AAA and two (2) BB live cartridges, one brown body armour, a locally made ammunition belt, and a piece of Police-embossed cloth.”

The suspects, whose ages range from 17 to 70, are currently in Police custody and assisting investigators with inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the items recovered.

The security agencies said the exhibits have been secured and will form part of the ongoing investigations.

The Police and Military said they would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at identifying and removing illegal weapons and other potential security threats from the Nkwanta area.

They also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to the security agencies to support efforts to preserve the peace in the area.
