The Satin Shoe Trend Is Equal Parts Timeless and New

Estimated read time2 min read

Oh, how I love when a trend feels fresh. In the five years I’ve been covering fashion, some motifs have been mainstays. Animal print, western influences, pointed toes; these are all ever-present. But the satin shoe trend? Now that’s new and exciting.

On the fall/winter 2026 runways, we saw a lot of satin across shoes and bags from houses like Balmain, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Ferragamo, and Roger Vivier. As far as trends go, satin is timeless, making this a good time to invest in a little treat for your wardrobe, whether that’s a flat, heel, or sneaker. This fall, try a satin shoe, and watch yourself fall in love with the look.

Satin Flats

Ever a wardrobe staple, flats are an obvious way to incorporate this trend into your daily life. The subtle sheen of the flats below makes them perfect for work when paired with trousers, or for a day out on the town when worn with jeans or a skirt. I’m most drawn to J.Crew’s cherry red option, but it’s also stripe season, as Mango exemplifies.

Satin Heels

If you want to stay true to the runways, it’s all about heels. Be it a mule, a pump, or even a wedge, satin heels have a fashion-insider quality. They look more polished than regular heels, giving every look an elevated, intentional air.

Satin Sneakers

Are we talking walkability? Then it’s gotta be sneakers. As someone who wears sneakers nearly daily, I’m always on the hunt for little ways to make my trainers feel more fashion-forward and on trend. This season, consider it found.
