Jordana Brewster Kicks Her Style Into High Gear for The Fast and the Furious 25th Anniversary
A quarter century of The Fast and the Furious calls for a victory lap—and a very good dress.
For a special anniversary screening of the original 2001 film in Los Angeles last night, Jordana Brewster reunited with Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and more members of the Fast family. And while Mia Toretto usually opts for a tank and jeans, Brewster had something considerably more glamorous in mind for the evening: a sheer black lace Monse gown, Paris Texas heels, and a beauty look worthy of the milestone.
“Twenty-five years ago, I went to the Westwood premiere of The Fast and the Furious. I wore my mom’s Fendi baguette bag and did my own makeup (blue eyeshadow and tanning beds were in),” Brewster tells ELLE. “Last night, I walked the same carpet with my kids (I definitely did not do my own makeup) and showed them the film that started it all.”
She certainly didn’t do it alone this time. Stylist Katie Bofshever dressed Brewster in an asymmetrical Monse gown made from delicate black lace, with a sheer skirt and dramatic train. She completed the look with Nak Armstrong and Savannah Friedkin jewelry and strappy Paris Texas heels. Makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis handled the glam—the blue eye shadow was not invited back for the reunion—while hairstylist Renato Campora fashioned her hair into a statement-making low ponytail.
The full-circle night was about more than revisiting an old movie. Brewster has played Mia for more than two decades; along the way, she has watched what started as a relatively grounded street-racing story become one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises. “The love for these films is around the globe, but especially in Brazil, my home, and the heart of the franchise,” she says. “Fast changed my life and set me on my path—I am forever grateful.”
And with Fast Forever still ahead, Brewster hasn’t crossed the finish line just yet. Below, she takes ELLE along as she gets ready to celebrate 25 years of The Fast and the Furious.
