Court Confirms Akofena as Kantanka Successor as Will Settles Leadership Dispute

Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena has been confirmed as the successor to the Kantanka Empire following the formal reading of the will of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka at the Accra High Court.

The confirmation, delivered on Monday, July 6, brings long‑awaited clarity to the leadership succession of both the Kristo Asafo Mission and the broader Kantanka establishment.

Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, Kristo Asafo member Richard Brown, popularly known as Osebo the Zaraman, pledged full support for Akofena and the family, stressing that the late Apostle’s wishes must be respected.

“If our father decided to leave all his properties to Akofena, I have no reason to object. During my previous press conference, I said he always valued peace. If his will clearly states that everything belongs to Akofena, then I have no choice but to respect that decision,” he said.

The court’s confirmation aligns with recent remarks by former Dome‑Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, who insisted her father left behind a valid will guiding the administration of his estate. She argued that public discourse had wrongly framed the Kristo Asafo dispute as a battle over inheritance, when the real issue has always been the implementation of the Apostle’s final directives.

Despite the clarity provided by the will, the succession process has been marred by internal divisions within the family and the mission — tensions that escalated into a shooting incident at Akofena’s residence. The attack left Sarah Adwoa Safo in critical condition, with the family preparing to fly her abroad for further medical care.
