THE RUNDOWN
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are enjoying a European vacation.
- They have brought their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
- The family is reportedly planning a trip to the U.K. in July.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly traveling through Europe with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The trip comes soon after the couple confirmed they were planning to make a stop in the U.K. in July, kicking off events around plans for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to California in 2020, stepping back as working members of the royal family. With the change in position came a change in security measures for their visits to the country. It has been an ongoing issue for Harry, who has visited several times on his own to see King Charles and his brother, Prince William, as well as extended family. But this will be their first time that his wife and children have joined him in the U.K. since 2022, when they celebrated the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
Earlier in June, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles offered the Sussexes accommodation on a royal estate while they’re in town, though the family has not confirmed an acceptance publicly.
In a statement to the High Court in London, Prince Harry said, “The U.K. is my home. The U.K. is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the United States. That cannot happen if there is no possibility to keep them safe when they are on U.K. soil.”
He continued, “I can’t put my wife in danger like that, and given my experiences in life, I’m reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”
