Fashion People Are Swapping Basic Flats for Mesh Shoes This Summer
There’s a rumor that New Yorkers don’t wear open-toed sandals, yet the mesh shoe trend seems to be a popular workaround. I, for one, don’t subscribe to the myth. (If I want to wear flip-flops, I’m going to do just that.) But I’m into this summer shoe trend regardless of that fact.
On a literal level, mesh shoes offer good breathability. Stylistically, they serve as a subtle statement that makes every outfit more intentional and, dare I say, sexier. Often in the form of flats or heels, these are a next-level accessory, a sure sign that the wearer knows fashion. Ahead, I’m breaking down some of the best mesh shoes to shop now.
Mesh Sneakers
Sneakers are the least common version of this trend, but they do exist if you know where to look. I’m a fan of iterations by L’Agence, Soludos, Stuart Weitzman, and of course, the Adidas Taekwondo for a sneakerina moment.
Mesh Flats
On the opposite side of the spectrum, we have flats: the most common take on the trend. I love the tight-weave version from Old Navy in cherry red, but there are also open-weave styles from brands like Staud and Tony Bianco.
Mesh Heels
Lastly, we have heels—the sexiest of all. Whether you go for a mule, wedge, or something animal print, this is one extremely easy way to revamp your look on nights out.
