Why Fans Think Taylor Swift Is Already Teasing Her 13th Album
Taylor Swift fans are already convinced clues about her 13th album are appearing in plain sight. Less than a year after releasing her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s recent fashion choices and jewelry have sparked a new wave of theories about what could come next—and whether the singer is quietly setting the stage for TS13, a milestone long considered especially meaningful in her career.
Could Swift’s recent style choices be TS13 Easter eggs?
Over the last few weeks, fans have closely tracked Swift’s recurring black-and-white looks during outings in London and New York City. On May 8, she stepped out with fiancé Travis Kelce in London wearing a black lace dress and leather jacket.
Days later, she wore a black minidress with silver embellishments during a dinner outing with her family in New York, followed by a white knit dress paired with black accessories during another appearance. Two days later, she wore a Stella McCartney white peplum top with a black belt and The Row pants.
Some Swifties believe the consistent palette could be intentional. “When Taylor Swift starts showing patterns in clothing, it means she’s moving into a new era,” one fan wrote on X, while others speculated that the aesthetic could hint at the visual direction of TS13. A few fans, however, think the explanation may be simpler: Swift is preparing for her wedding to Kelce and embracing more bridal-inspired fashion choices.
Is there a hidden meaning behind Swift’s 13-stone earrings?
The theories only intensified after Swift and Kelce attended a friend’s wedding on May 16. Fans quickly zoomed in on her drop earrings, with some pointing out that each earring has 13 stones—a detail many interpreted as a nod to her next album.
“There is just NO WAY she’s wearing an earring with 13 stones,” one fan wrote on X. Others pointed out that Swift previously wore ruby earrings featuring 12 stones at the 2025 Grammys, months before she announced her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The opal jewelry Swift wore also once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, whom Swift wrote a song about on The Life of a Showgirl. The set had been purchased from Fox Estate Jewelry in late 2025 by a “sports agent,” with its jewelry dealer Adam Fox telling Page Six that it seems likely Kelce bought the pieces for Swift as a Christmas present.
“I’m just glad it went to somebody that actually appreciates it,” Fox said. “I know Taylor Swift has a song about Elizabeth Taylor, and it all makes sense. It seems like it was bought with a lot of purpose; there was obviously a lot of thought put into this one. And coming from somebody like Elizabeth Taylor and going to somebody who, among today’s generation, is just as recognizable as Taylor was back then? I think that’s very cool.”
It’s also worth noting that the color of Swift’s jewelry is similar to the pale green outfit by Wiederhoeft that she wore at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. The event was her first red carpet appearance of 2026 and her first music awards show with Kelce.
Swift seemingly choosing a gift from Kelce to tease her next era may also hint at the role he’ll play on her 13th album—be it a muse or something more.
Kelce inspired several The Life of a Showgirl songs and spoke in October 2025 about how fortunate he feels. “I’m just the lucky man that gets to be, you know, the support system for Taylor while she drops one of the coolest albums that I’ve ever listened to, that the world’s seen,” he said. “I’m excited for her. I’m happy for her. Everything seems to have gone perfectly, all this planning.”
Why does the number 13 mean so much to Swift?
The number 13 has carried significance for Swift throughout her entire career. She was born on December 13, has repeatedly referred to 13 as her lucky number, and has incorporated the number into album rollouts, performances, lyrics, and announcements for years. In a 2009 interview with MTV, Swift explained the connection herself: “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first No. 1 song had a 13-second intro.”
That history is part of why fans view a potential 13th album differently from any of Swift’s previous releases. Beyond being another studio project, TS13 would mark a symbolic career milestone, coming two decades after her October 2006 debut album launched her career.
Is there anything else significant about Swift’s 13th album?
Swift is working on her 13th album during a period of major personal and professional milestones—moments that will likely shape its tracks.
In August—right after she announced The Life of a Showgirl on Kelce’s podcast—the Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposed to Swift. The couple has since been planning their wedding in private.
Professionally, Swift revealed she bought her first six albums’ masters in May 2025. Months later, in January, she became the youngest woman to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She is part of the class of 2026.
Why do fans take Swift’s clues so seriously?
Swift has planted Easter eggs for her fans to find for years. During an appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast last year, she explained how they work, saying, “I’m never going to plant an Easter egg that ties back to my personal life. It’s always going to be toward music or something that I have coming up.”
In October 2022, she sent The Washington Post a statement about the origin of her Easter eggs, saying:
I remember saving up to buy a CD when I was a kid, tearing it open, and laying on the floor reading every word of the lyric booklet. Reading lyrics and seeing which photos defined the album were two of my favorite parts of experiencing a record release. I felt like some artists really leaned into their album packaging in a creative way. The Chicks Fly album was my favorite because their photos depicted all the meanings of the word “fly” in very theatrical ways.
When I was 15 and putting together my first album, I wanted to recreate the experience I used to have for my fans in a reimagined approach. I decided to encode the lyrics with hidden messages using capital letters. That’s how it started, and my fans and I have since descended into color coding, numerology, word searches, elaborate hints, and Easter eggs. It’s really about turning new music into an event for my fans and trying to entertain them in playful, mischievous, clever ways. As long as they still find it fun and exciting, I’ll keep doing it.
