In a recent episode of Quenlin Blackwell’s Feeding Starving Celebrities series, Brat singer Charli XCX made a surprising comment about her career in the music industry: she’s thinking about giving it up.
During the interview, Blackwell asked if Charli wanted to “act more,” to which she replied, “Yes, are you kidding? I want to quit music, babe, and act.”
Blackwell jokingly answered, “What else is there to do?”
Charli made an appearance in the recent mockumentary The Moment. Her most recent musical project was producing the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights. She also has some songs on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.
The star expanded on another idea she had for a film that she first shared on TikTok in May. The horror movie concept is an “it-girl Final Destination.”
“We would be being killed by machinery or something like that,” she told Blackwell. “And I feel like if it was an it-girl thing, all the deaths would be on the runway. I would probably die at some kind of a rave. You know what I mean?”
Charli also serves as the executive music producer on the Prime Video series Overcompensating, which stars comedian Benito Skinner. She popped in for an appearance on the show’s first season. She is additionally set to star in I Want Your Sex from director Gregg Araki, according to Deadline.
And in July 2024, in a Billboard profile, Charli said she planned to go to Poland and “write a film there.”
“Well, I don’t really know if I should say because I also don’t know if we’re going to do it,” she added. “We might actually just go to Poland and not do that, but that is the idea.”
