New recall in Salmonella outbreak linked to dietary supplements containing moringa leaf powder

- As of January 29, 2026, total of 65 people in 28 states have now been reported as part of this outbreak. An additional strain of Salmonella is now included in the investigation.
- Epidemiologic, laboratory, and traceback data show that moringa leaf powder is contaminated with Salmonella and is making people sick.
- A new recall of a dietary supplement containing moringa leaf powder has been announced: Why Not Natural Organic Moringa Green Superfood capsules, lot # A25G051, with an expiration date of 07/2028. These products were sold nationwide.
What You Should Do:
- Do not eat any recalled dietary supplements. Throw them away or return them to where you bought them.
- Wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled dietary supplements using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.
- Call your healthcare provider if you have any severe Salmonella symptoms.
What Businesses Should Do:
- Do not sell or serve recalled dietary supplements.
- Wash and sanitize items and surfaces that may have come in contact with recalled dietary supplements.
About Salmonella:
- Most people infected with Salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps 6 hours to 6 days after being exposed to the bacteria.
- The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most people recover without treatment.
- In some people, the illness may be so severe that the patient is hospitalized.
- Children younger than 5, adults 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to get severely sick.
