We Tried the New Cécred Styling Products—Here’s Our Full Review
They say good things come to those who wait. But when it comes to the launch of a new Cécred line, it is hard to be patient. Products like the Restoring Hair and Edge Drops and Nourishing Hair Oil have already gone viral and become instant cult classics. According to the Cécred website, one unit of the Edge Drops is sold every 16 seconds. Now, Beyoncé’s haircare brand is rounding out its offerings with six new styling products: Thermal Shield Mist, Heat Activated Silk Glaze, Volumizing Mousse, Flexible Hold Hairspray, Wrap and Set Foam, and Strong Hold Gel.
Whether you prefer blowouts, braid outs, silk presses, or bouncy curls, this collection delivers flawless results without compromising hair health. Every product contains the brand’s new patented StemShield Complex, a blend of polymers, plant stem cell lipids, and fermented black honey to protect all hair types from humidity and styling-related damage. They’re also heat-resistant up to 450 degrees.
Below, members of the ELLE Beauty team created some of their own hair looks and gave their honest reviews of the new Cécred styling line, now available to shop at Ulta.com.

Volumizing Mousse: “I’m scared of mousse. I have no idea how to properly use it and when I hear the word, I just think of the Aussie mousse I used growing up that made my hair crunchy and stiff. I told this to a Cécred stylist, who laughed and walked me through how to use Cécred’s new Volumizing Mousse, step by step. Here’s what I learned: Put a lot of mousse all over wet hair before styling normally. It gives your hair tons of body, while shielding from frizz and providing weightless hold. The best part is that this mousse has strong heat protection up to 450 degrees. It made my blowout shiny, voluminous, and long-lasting, and did not make it feel crunchy in the slightest.”

Heat Activated Silk Glaze: “I understand now more than ever the importance of wet-prep before a silk press. It starts in the shower, yes, with clarifying and hydrating shampoos and moisturizing conditioners. But more importantly, it’s what goes on your strands before heat even touches your hair, and the Silk Glaze helped deliver a smoother, softer finish. Since I have fine hair, my issue is always that silk presses make my hair revert faster than usual—and I’m an avid Rumble workout girl. I found that my hair actually could withstand New York City’s volatile temperatures while still remaining sleek, and I have this glaze to thank. I should be grateful for the sleekness it provided, but really, I’m a big fan of the long-lasting sheen.”
Volumizing Mousse: “Never in my life did I expect to ever utter the next few words: Beyoncé’s hairstylist, Neal Farinah, touched my hair. When my hair is straightened, I don’t experiment much, so I opted for a high bun. In lieu of edge control or any of the strong-hold products I’d normally use, he went in with this mousse to tame flyaways and add sleekness. I saw the magic work in a matter of minutes: my hair didn’t feel crunchy or stiff, and it maintained its body for the next few days. At home—and days out from experiencing Farinah’s Midas touch—I tried it again. Two more words: NO NOTES!”

Thermal Shield Mist: “I was so excited to try this product, since I regularly blow-dry and straighten my hair, and lately, I’ve definitely been noticing some damage. I used it after washing and towel-drying my hair. Following the directions, I sectioned my hair and sprayed each part generously to make sure every strand was coated. The first thing I noticed was the scent—it has a rich sandalwood and musk profile, which I later learned is Cécred’s signature oud fragrance, used across the line. I personally loved it, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to fragrance. I then blow-dried my hair as usual with a round brush, creating tension as I worked through each section. Almost immediately, my hair looked noticeably glossier—likely thanks to the brand’s Thermal Gloss Blend (a combination of desert oils to moisturize) and panthenol (a humectant, which attracts and retains moisture) in the formula. My ends also felt smoother than when I use my usual heat protectant. After styling, my hair held onto a subtle scent that gradually faded throughout the day. Overall, my style felt lightweight and non-greasy, with significantly fewer flyaways, less frizz, and less visible breakage. Even better, after checking my ends, I didn’t notice any new split ends or damage. Safe to say, I’m a fan. Between the gorgeous scent and the results, this one’s earned a new spot in my routine.”

Flexible Hold Hairspray: “Simply put, I think this is my new favorite hairspray. The mist is incredibly fine, and the formula is so dry and lightweight it almost feels like a texturizing spray—so much so that I was honestly nervous it wouldn’t be able to hold my fresh blowout and curls. But to my surprise, my hair stayed perfectly in place all weekend, and without ever feeling stiff or sticky.”

Wrap and Set Foam: “The key to maintaining a perfect pixie is a good foaming mousse. This product line came just in time because I had just run out of mine and was in desperate need of a restock. This foam felt extremely moisturizing and a little went a long way. I will admit that this product requires patience. I found that it worked best on damp, freshly washed hair as opposed to quick touch-ups on dry hair. The mousse dries down almost like a gel, leaving a holding cast after the hair is fully dry. To break the cast, I went in with the Cécred Nourishing Oil and styled as usual. My hair felt so soft and hydrated, and the style actually lasted for a few days before I had to restyle. I stocked up on this product and won’t be running out any time soon.”
