Air Peace clarifies Ibadan flight delay amid weather disruption

Air Peace Limited has explained the delay of its Ibadan–Abuja flight, attributing the disruption to adverse weather conditions that prevented the aircraft from landing as scheduled.

In a statement issued by its management, the airline said the aircraft made two attempts to land in Ibadan but was forced to return to Abuja in line with safety protocols.

“The aircraft scheduled for this service made two landing attempts in Ibadan but had to return to Abuja due to adverse weather conditions at the time. Passengers were duly informed of this development, and as safety protocols required the crew had to divert,” the statement read.

The airline, however, confirmed that the aircraft has since landed safely in Ibadan, with arrangements underway for departure.

“We are pleased to confirm that the aircraft has now successfully landed in Ibadan, and preparations are ongoing for departure shortly,” it added.

Air Peace also addressed claims circulating online regarding the number of passengers on board, describing them as inaccurate.

“We also wish to correct a misconception: no Air Peace aircraft deployed on this or other domestic routes carries 200 passengers. The figure being circulated is therefore inaccurate. The actual number of passengers on the flight is 73, all of whom have now boarded,” the airline said.

Apologising for the inconvenience caused to passengers, the airline reiterated that safety remains its top priority.

“To our valued passengers, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this delay has caused. Please be assured that your safety, as well as that of our crew and equipment, remains our utmost priority,” the statement noted.

The airline added that weather-related disruptions are handled with caution in accordance with global aviation safety standards and urged passengers to show understanding in such situations.

“Air Peace does not intentionally delay or cancel flights without sufficient and justifiable reasons,” it stated.
