Beyoncé Gives Rare Insight Into How Blue Ivy and Rumi Helped With Cécred’s New Launch
THE RUNDOWN
- Beyoncé gave a rare interview, discussing how her daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter, helped with her hair care line Cécred’s upcoming launch.
- She also revealed she secretly tested its new products during her Cowboy Carter Tour.
- The singer gave more behind-the-scenes insight on how she kept her hairstyles intact during tour, revealing the real reason she had fans onstage.
As Beyoncé gears up to release styling products with her hair care line Cécred, the singer gave WWD a very rare interview. She discussed the development of the brand’s upcoming thermal shield mist, volumizing mousse, strong hold gel, flexible hold hairspray, and more. She also revealed her daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter, played a special role in their creation.
Beyoncé tested the products herself during her Cowboy Carter Tour—and ultimately on Blue and Rumi, too.
“A lot of these products were designed from a desire to solve my own issues with my hair while on tour,” she began. “I don’t use relaxers, so I’m very big on protecting the hair from heat damage when I style. Tour weather is unpredictable. Pouring rain, crazy humidity, some shows in 100 degree weather. I’m drenched in sweat and those styles must make it through a three-hour show. I wasn’t finding stylers that could perform at the necessary level without affecting my hair health.”
Products weren’t all she used to protect her hair. The singer added that the fans onstage were there to do far more than give her windswept locks.
“People assume my fans onstage are blowing just for the drama and hairography, but the heat under those lights gets real,” she said. “I need products strong enough to keep my style while keeping it weightless enough to take flight. It’s taken years with lots of trial and error to find the best formulas. We have put each one of these to the test and I use it on my daughters before everything: blow dry, silk press, braid-out. We tested the mousse on my big Texas blowout all the way back in 2024 for the Super Bowl.”
The products will launch on Cécred’s website this Thursday.
