Spoilers below.

Though Only Murders in the Building wrapped its fifth season in October, the Hulu hit is hardly slowing down. The series is heading toward its next chapter with awards-season momentum after earning Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, as well as best performance nods for stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.

The final episode of season 5, which ended with the suspicious death of Cinda Canning, left fans on a major cliffhanger that begs for a deeper investigation. Here’s everything we know so far about the future of the show.

Has Only Murders in the Building been renewed for season 6?

Yes! The news came shortly after the season 5 finale premiered. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the forthcoming season will officially switch locations and be filmed in London. The previous season’s finale ended with the trio listening to a new Cinda Canning podcast set across the pond. That, along with Canning’s mysterious death at the end of the episode, may hint at why the group could travel to the U.K.

Selena Gomez previously stated that she hopes Only Murders continues for many seasons to come. “I really hope that I can just keep evolving Mabel as I get older, because I want to do this for a long time,” she told USA Today in September 2025.

Steve Martin also felt optimistic about a sixth season. “We believe we’re doing another season,” he said. “We think so. But you have to live season by season. And even if it was canceled tomorrow, we would have to say, ‘We had a great, great run. We loved what we were doing. It was a great way to spend five, six years.’”

How many episodes will season 6 be?

Just like previous seasons, season 6 is confirmed to have 10 episodes.

Who will be in the cast?

Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short will likely return for another season. Season 5 featured newcomers Renée Zellweger and Logan Lerman, while Keegan-Michael Key was elevated to a recurring role. It’s not yet clear whether these supporting characters, along with Meryl Streep and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, will return for season 6, but we’ll stay tuned.

This story will be updated.
