Natalie Portman Is Reportedly ‘at Peace’ and ‘Stronger’ After Private Divorce From Benjamin Millepied

Natalie Portman is legally single—and “at peace” with where she and her family is today, following her and ex-husband Benjamin Millepied’s private separation. A friend of the former couple spoke to People about Portman’s healing journey.

The actress’ rep confirmed to the outlet that Portman and Millepied had finalized their divorce in France last month. Portman filed for it eight months ago, and she and Millepied were able to keep their separation completely private.

Portman and Millepied have two children together and were married for 11 years. Their relationship received public attention when news came out in May 2023 that Millepied had an extramarital affair, via French outlet Voici.

A source told People at the time, It was short-lived and it is over. He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together. Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media. Her biggest priority is protecting her children and their privacy.”

Portman was able to do just that.

Her friend spoke to People today about how she was able to heal privately and prioritize her kids’ well-being.

“It was initially really tough for her, but her friends rallied around her and helped get her through the worst of it,” the source said. “Natalie is coming out of a really tough and painful year, but she’s come out the other side of it stronger and is finding joy in her family, friends, and work.”

“Her biggest priority has been ensuring a smooth transition for her children,” they continued. “She and Ben really love their kids and are equally focused on being the best co-parents they can be. Nothing is more important.”

While Portman did not anticipate her relationship with Millepied ending, she has adjusted to their new life as co-parents. Their friend said, “Natalie hoped her marriage would be forever, but she is at peace with where they are and now focused on their new normal as a family.”
