Salma Hayek’s Red Bustier Gown With a Sheer Lace Leg Slit Was One of the 2023 Met Gala’s Most Striking Looks

At Monday’s Met Gala, many celebrities opted for black or nude dresses to pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld and the night’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” theme. But Salma Hayek opted instead to bring the heat in a red bustier dress designed by Gucci. The gown had a patent, opaque top with pearl straps that transitioned into a tiered, tulle skirt with sultry sheer red lace detailing at the leg.

The 56-year-old actress wore statement Lorraine Schwartz diamond and pearl earrings to complement the dress’ straps. She had her hair styled in a bubble ponytail, decorated with red rosettes, making it altogether a truly striking look from front:

Hayek also had a moment catching up with Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto in his viral Choupette Met Gala outfit, which anyone would do:

Just months before her big Met Gala moment, Hayek spoke to Glamour in February about her relationship with her sensuality as she has gotten older. “I work really hard and sometimes I’m really tired—I’m too tired to be sexy, to think sexy,” she said. “And you have to say, ‘Oh, that’s okay too.’”

She then offered her advice to women about how to continue embracing that part of themselves as the years go on.

“I’ll give you lots of good advice about this,” she started. “Dance—make sure you’re sensual for yourself. Dance by yourself when nobody’s watching. And don’t look at yourself in the mirror when you’re dancing. Blindfold yourself and feel you. Feel your body and feel how it interacts with space.”

“Don’t go over your problems when you’re taking a shower, when you’re taking a bath,” she continued. “Feel the water. If you get a chance to go in the ocean, go to the ocean. Walk on the sand; feel the grass under your toes. Feel the sun; feel the wind. Don’t get too busy in your head that you don’t see it.” (Hayek recently posted an Instagram of herself in the ocean, wearing a great bikini, that went viral.)

“Have fun, laugh, make yourself laugh,” she added. “Tell yourself a joke. Be silly when nobody’s watching. It’s about that time you spend with yourself. It’s hard for me to find that space, so I now make a really big effort to enjoy it very much. Because in modern life, it’s hard. Especially if you’re married and with children. Go hide somewhere and feel it.”
