Selena Gomez Looks Completely Different With Her New Blunt Bangs and Extra-Long Straight Hair

Summer is swiftly approaching, and it seems that Selena Gomez is kicking off the new season with a major hair change. After having her hair styled in a dark bob with blunt bangs this spring, Gomez has gone very long and a little lighter. The singer debuted sleek straight caramel hair with layers and blunt bangs on TikTok yesterday. Time will tell if it’s a more permanent change or just temporary.

On a more serious note, Gomez used her Twitter—a platform she posts on relatively sparingly—to speak out about the horrific Uvalde, Texas shooting that left 19 children and two children dead yesterday. The Texas native singer implored U.S. leaders to actually do something and expressed frustration, like so many others, that nothing has been done so far.

“Today in my home state of Texas 18 innocent students were killed while simply trying to get an education,” she started. “A teacher killed doing her job; an invaluable yet sadly under appreciated job. If children aren’t safe at school where are they safe? It’s so frustrating and I’m not sure what to say anymore. Those in power need to stop giving lip service and actually change the laws to prevent these shootings in the future.” She linked to Everytown’s site, where you can donate to support their work ending gun violence in the U.S.

Gomez’s longtime friend Taylor Swift also shared a very rare tweet condemning U.S. leaders for their inaction amid multiple mass shootings this spring. “Filled with rage and grief, and so broken by the murders in Uvalde,” Swift wrote. “By Buffalo, Laguna Woods and so many others. By the ways in which we, as a nation, have become conditioned to unfathomable and unbearable heartbreak. Steve’s words ring so true and cut so deep.”
