Madam Angela Alorwu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Afadzato South constituency in the Volta region has donated medical equipment and other items to the Ho Central Prisons medical centre on Friday April 16.
The equipment includes hospital beds, bed shirts, weighing scales, wheelchairs, pomades, sanitary pads, among others.
According to her, the safety and good hygienic nature of prison inmates must be championed.
Madam Alorwu disclosed to the media that, she made the donation upon the request by the authorities of the Prison service.
She noted that, the service requested for the items that were urgently needed to maintain the prisons environment.
The MP added that the donation coincided with her 50th birthday celebration which she deemed highly important to give back to society.
Madam Alorwu promised her continuous support to the prison service.
She also pledged to construct ultra-modern health centre to benefit both prisoners and the general public.
“I will help three outgoing prisoners who learnt sewing in prison with modern sewing machines which will help them survive after been convicted, ” she stated.
DSP Emmanuel Dzangbah, the officer in charged at the prison service who received the equipment on behalf of the service thanked Madam Alorbu for the support.
Further checks by ModernGhana news indicates that, the service was in dire need of many things to enable it operate effectively since government cannot provide it all.
