Kristen Noel Crawley is best known for her brand KNC Beauty‘s cult-favorite starry eye masks and nourishing lip masks and balms, and influencing her 416,000-plus followers with a sartorial taste that harkens back to the 90s. But in light of the Black Lives Matter movement and protests, Crawley reflected on how she can use her influence to inspire change and came up with a solution: KNC School of Beauty.
Attending class in the dead of summer isn’t anyone’s ideal vacation plan but learning from the best in Black beauty might change your mind. Starting on July 14, the KNC School of Beauty will operate through Zoom and “provide four semesters of free information on entrepreneurship, facing adversity, social media and marketing and strategic partnerships and investors,” per WWD. The “semesters” will be broken into four virtual classes where Crawley, along with other beauty founders like The Lip Bar‘s Melissa Butler, Briogeo‘s Nancy Twine, and Golde‘s Trinity Mouzon, will share their experiences in the beauty industry to help budding entrepreneurs get their own businesses off the ground and what mistakes to avoid. The KNC School of Beauty will also teach entrepreneurs about product development, and one lucky student will walk away with a $10,000 grant though Crawley didn’t explain how that decision will be made. The project is being produced by Sun-ny Side Up.

What’s more, the KNC School of Beauty is free “because I said so,” Crawley wrote on Instagram. Instead, Crawley is covering tuition by asking Revlon—whom she partners with frequently—to make a donation in KNC Beauty’s name to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. The link to registration will be available sometime in July.
