Nigeria opposition candidate Abubakar calls judge suspension act of dictatorship

ABUJA, Jan 25 (Reuters) – Nigeria’s main opposition presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar said on Friday the suspension of the country’s most senior judge by President Muhammadu Buhari was an “act of dictatorship”.

Buhari suspended Walter Onnoghen on Friday and replaced him with an acting chief justice of Nigeria. Buhari and Atiku are the main contenders in the country’s presidential election to be held on Feb. 16. (Reporting by Paul Carsten; Writing by Alexis Akwagyiram; Editing by Alison Williams)
