COVID-19: ESAN NORTH EAST TO BE STRICT ON ENFORCEMENT
Authorities of Esan North East Local Government Council have announced that they will commence strict enforcement of Covid-19 Containment Protocols from Monday, February 1, 2021 in the local government area.
Consequently, anybody found in public without facemask or out side during curfew hours (10pm to 5am) will be arrested and prosecuted.
The chairman of the local government area, Hon. Austine Okoibhole made this known during a meeting with stakeholders at the Secretariat of the council in Uromi, administrative headquarters of the local government.
Disclosing that the enforcement was a directive from the state government, Hon. Okoibhole stated that the measure was to protect people of the local government against the new wave of Covid-19 Pandemic.
"We will be very strict about the enforcement. We need to do what we have to do to protect our people. I will continue to do what I have to do protect the people of Uromi/Uzea because, that is what I am elected to do", he said.
Speaking on other measures to be put in place to curtail the spread of the virus, he said Social Distancing will also be strictly enforced, hence churches and halls during indoor activities must not have more than 30 per cent of their carrying capacities, and must not exceed one hour period at a stretch.
Also, commercial salon cars are to carry only four passengers instead of six, Siena, six instead of nine, while buses will convey only 14 instead of 18, just as schools must ensure proper spacing in classes, provision of hand washing buckets, sanitizers and compulsory use of facemask.
He similarly said measures will be put in place to avoid congestion in the markets.
He announced that sensitization and enlightenment would continue till Sunday, 31st of January in the local government, after which offenders will be prosecuted at the Mobile Court which has already been constituted, from Monday, 1st of February. ... See MoreSee Less
