While the Edo State government has promised to build a racetrack facility of international standard, it seems Ogun State will be the first to achieve this as the government has kicked off a project to build a standard motorsport racetrack that also serves as a leisure park – the first of its kind in West Africa.

The project will be handled by Driven International, a company which specializes in creating sustainable sports and leisure destinations, and EMC3, a multinational creative company, which proposed the project. Located on the outskirts of Abeokuta, the facility will focus more on the training and education of people in the motorsport business to support the government’s efforts in creating jobs.

Speaking about the project, Managing Director of Driven International, Ben Willshire, said:

“The project is at an early stage so we will need to refine the designs, with input from the required governing bodies and stakeholders.

We experienced excellent hospitality during our stay in Nigeria and we are truly excited at the opportunity to be part of Nigeria’s first international motorsport project.”
